As long time business partners and investors in the MCEDC, Fabrik Industries and JA Frate have created a strong partnership by continuing to learn and develop solutions to help support their business goals. Recently, Fabrik Industries was faced with the challenge of moving machinery from Monterrey, Mexico back to McHenry County for production. Given the size/value of the machines and complexity of Mexican and US Customs they were careful to choose the right partner to help make this move happen as seamlessly as possible.

Working together, Fabrik and JA Frate were able to organize and execute a good project plan that allowed for a smooth return of the machines to Fabrik’s McHenry County Headquarters.

Follett expands operations to Singapore through public libraries and local book club activity.

McHenry, Ill-June 8, 2011-Despite the changing landscape and ever tightening budgets facing schools in Illinois and across the United States, Follett, the world’s leading education supplier is expanding its operations to Singapore. After much anticipation, Follett is excited to announce it has secured a spot on the Singapore National Library Board panel of vendors. For nearly a year, Follett has worked to demonstrate it can enhance the world renowned library system’s collection and support its vision of lifelong learning. The board was enticed by the level of service Follett guarantees and the rich history a family business offers. As part of the tender requirements, Follett International set up a physical office in Singapore—Follett Singapore Pte. Ltd.

This development is a game changer for Follett because each year the Singapore National Library Board spends $34 million on materials. Follett is not guaranteed any specific portion of their generous budget; however, Follett executives anticipate the board's investment in the Illinois based company will be scaled as Follett delivers on the promises made during the months of the tender process. As part of its commitment to the Singapore community, Follett is also launching a book club. Students, parents, and teachers throughout Singapore will be able to place orders for popular preK-12 English titles online and pick up their orders at the Follett Singapore bookstore. Through Follett’s relationships with 48,000 publishers, Singaporeans will find more books for every grade and interest level.

President of Follett International, Zachary Colandrea says, “As Follett expands its footprint around the world, the vote of confidence from the National Library Board will change the way Follett is viewed as a company in the region. Additionally, a spot on the panel of vendors positions Follett for other opportunities across the region and within Singapore’s Ministry of Education.”

On-camera, phone, or written interviews with Follett’s executives and education experts as well as photos of the Follett Singapore office can be arranged at your convenience.

JA Opens the World to Our Customers

Recently, many of our clients began asking JA, “When are you going to offer international transportation services?” As we have done in the past, and will continue to do in the future, we have “answered the call” and are pleased to announce the successful launch of JA International. With this addition to the JA Family we are now truly “the most dependable transportation service in the world!"

JA International operates as both an NVOCC (OTI# 023265NF) and Freight Forwarder (FF) in 72+ countries around the world providing traditional ocean/air services. What separates us from the others is the structure of the operations team. Traditional NVOCC/FF’s operate based on functional areas and not based on the the customer. If you are a customer who utilizes the services of an NVOCC or Freight Forwarder, ask yourself these questions:

  • When I call my service provider, how many different people do I talk to?
  • When I have a special request, how many say “I’ll have to check and get back to you"?

At JA International our operational team is account based and is empowered with the assets and authority to serve you. So whether you import, export, ship via ocean or air your account representative will be able to answer your questions and solve your problems.

    • When I request status updates on my cargo, how do I receive the information if at all?
    • How good is my data integrity from beginning to end (including the accuracy of my invoice)?

Whether you are just thinking about expanding your business internationally, or have some experience, you will want to attend the EDC "Protective Protocols for Global Growth - Best Practices" forum this June.

The purpose of the event is to emphasize building successful relationships - both domestic and foreign - as a key to success in the world of global trade.  Learn from subject matter experts on the basics, benefits, challenges and overall best practices of growing your global presence.

The quote the email signature line of Michelle Rozovics, one of our experts whose firm provides comprehensive legal advice to small, midmarket and global business, "See no evil, Hear no Evil, Speak no Evil, Write no evil, but if you must...call us first".  Come learn why Michelle added that statement to her email signature and much, much more.
